Application of Organic Virgin Coconut Oil

Organic coconut oil has many dietary and cosmetic applications and benefits. There are several types of coconut oil, including refined, bleached, and deodorized. However, this blurb will focus on cold-pressed coconut oil, the most versatile form that can be used both in cuisine and cosmetics. The cold-press process usesa mechanical press to extract the oil, without exposing the oil to any outside heat source. In cuisine, cold-press coconut oil can be used as an ingredient in salads, whipped toppings in baked and confectionery, a source of good fat in baby food, cakes, cookies, ice cream, From a health standpoint, consumption of coconut oil has been used to treat diabetes, heart disease, fatigue, Crohn’s disease, irritable bowel syndrome, Alzheimer’s, and boost the immune system. Ironically, despite it’s high calorie and saturated fat content, coconut oil has been linked with weight loss and cholesterol relief. Cosmetically, cold-press coconut oil can be used as a condition to repair damaged, or dry hair. When mixed in a 1:2 ratio with coconut sugar, a coconut oil sugar scrub can be used to exfoliate and cleanse the skin. Cold-press coconut oil can also be used as a basic moisturizer for the skin and face.
